Day 17 Monday, 26 September 2011
at 17:32 on The Mighty Tuks said So we have made it to the end of our adventure and I wanted to thank you all. With everyone's support we raced our tuk tuk over 1,800 miles across India, raising over $15,000 for The Dream Foundation. The generosity shown by our friends and family has been overwhelming, and we really cannot thank you enough. In the coming days we will finally be able to upload all of our pictures and video, so stay tuned to the site. In the meantime, Simon and I will be enjoying a nice short 15 hour flight back to the states, while Kristian is off back to Norway. Something tells me we will all be tucking into a nice steak tomorrow night... |

at 15:00 on The Mighty Tuks said My buddy Sahaj picked us up from the airport and took us out for a little taste of the Delhi high life. Had an incredible dinner, best of the trip, and a few drinks at Delhi's swankiest mall. A great way to cap off the entire adventure. Really wish we had a few nights to spend here. Now back to the airport to fight our way through security and relax before we part ways and head home. |

Day 16 Sunday, 25 September 2011
at 13:35 on The Mighty Tuks said Recovering from last nights Finish Party shenanigans... and what a party it was. Spending our last day (and my 25th birthday) in bed in recovery mode. Kristian has been stricken with Jaisalmer belly, which should make our overnight train trip to Jodhpur tonight interesting. I spent 20 minutes this morning in the fetal position due to extreme pain in my left side, which I believe has been purposefully caused by someone I cut off on the highway putting a pin in a voodoo doll of me. Simon is in decent health, but is napping as well as a show of solidarity to his teammates. Going to have a last feast on the roof tonight over looking the city. Hope everyone else on the train doesn't mind that we are having a birthday party all night. Tomorrow we fly to Dehli, then home. Still more updates to come, we haven't made it out of India yet... |

Day 15 Saturday, 24 September 2011
at 13:25 on The Mighty Tuks said The victory lap around Jaisalmer this morning was absolute mayhem. Last chance to thrash the tuk tuk through the streets of India. Set off with 35 teams in the procession, only finished with 6. Tons got lost along the way. Lots of racing, purposeful bumping, and throwing of water at other teams. Then regretfully turned in the keys to our mighty steed, signally the real end to the adventure. Now dressed up in our best maharaja garb for the fancy dress party tonight. Promise to put embarrassing photos up later. And now its time to head to the palace to celebrate the end of the rickshaw run... |

Day 14 Friday, 23 September 2011
at 19:11 on The Mighty Tuks said Just had dinner and drinks out on the dunes with teams Ghandi Warhol and Shut The Tuk Up, Simon and Kristian were a bit to sleepy to make it. The ride out was absolute insanity. Nice to be in the giant dangerous speeding van for once rather than the tiny tuk tuk. Food and drink were great, but the view of the stars was incredible. Finished off with a fire then headed back to the hotel. Victory parade around the city tomorrow morning then cricket match against the local Air Force team before the big party tomorrow night. |

07:25 on - The Mighty Tuks wrote: Today feels like the first real day of vacation....and it feels GREAT. Sitting aorund on our hotel's roof drinking tea, we can finally take time to let the scenery soak in. As we travelled west from Shillong, we went through every imaginable landscape; jungle, mountains, plains, forest, and now desert. The country has become more and more spectacular as we have headed west, and Rajasthan has been the perfect place to end this trip. We are staying in an amazing hotel in the Jaisalmer Fort with 360 degree views of the city and surrounding desert. Here we can truly relax... Read more ... |

Day 13 Thursday, 22 September 2011
at 15:58 on The Mighty Tuks said Despite children throwing fist size rocks at us on the outskirts of the city.... WE HAVE MADE IT!!!! 12 days after the start and in 16th place. We are very dirty, very smelly, and very beardy, but we made it. Thank you to everyone who has supported us! We will calculate and update the blog with our fundraising and distance totals in the next couple days. As for now I think we have earned ourselves a nice warm Indian beer... |

at 09:35 on The Mighty Tuks said Only 40 miles to Jaisalmer. There has been a sharp increase in military vehicles and personnel... A sure sign we are getting close to the Pakistani border.@ |

at 03:36 on The Mighty Tuks said Had a good nights sleep, full breakfast this morning, and now off to Jaisalmer. 300km of desert between us and the finish line... What could possibly go wrong? |

Day 12 Wednesday, 21 September 2011
at 15:09 on The Mighty Tuks said Couple close calls on the highway today. Tried to squeeze the tuk tuk into a sewer drain to avoid a huge detour... And failed. Made it to Jodhpur in one piece. Now relaxing on the rooftop of our hotel enjoying a drink and a view of the fort and the Rajasthani night sky. Up at dawn to speed towards the finish line in Jaisalmer. Will be celebrating this time tomorrow night. |

Day 11 Tuesday, 20 September 2011
at 09:26 on The Mighty Tuks said Drove out to the middle of nowhere on the Sambhar salt flats. Did donuts, drag raced, played cricket. Quickly undid all the work the mechanic performed on our tuk tuks yesterday. Possibly the best day yet. Drag Race Results: Ghand Warhol 2 The Mighty Tuks 1 Marc beat Simon Sean beat Kristian Jarryd beat Robbi. |

Day 10 Monday, 19 September 2011
at 11:09 on The Mighty Tuks said Medical Update: Kristian got toilet paper stuck in his ear. After many unsuccessful attempts to dislodge it he had to go to the hospital to have it removed by a professional (I promise I did not make this up). Also, Jarryd has been sidelined by a nasty case of "Dehli Belly", or in this case "Jaipur Belly." Both are expected to make full recovery.@ |

18:01 on - The Mighty Tuks wrote: Due to lack of wifi access we have only been able to update via text. Here is a quick recap on the past 4 days: Day 4: Taxi down from Darjeeling to Siliguri. Went to the train station to try and negotiate with the station manager again to get our tuk tuk on the train to Moghulsarai. Trainstations have been the most grim places we have visited, but the train station at night was really rough. Some of the worst poverty we have seen during the race. |
at 15:24 on The Mighty Tuks said Allahabad to Agra in 13 hours. Broke the cardinal rule of driving in India... Drove at night. Absolute insanity. Most cars driving without headlights. We had a headlamp, LEDs, and a maglite. Caravanned nose to bumper with Team Ghandi Warhol at full speed, swerving through traffic like we were driving an American diplomatic convoy through Baghdad. In other news, its Kristian's birthday tonight, and we are going to celebrate Agra style... Not sure what that means yet but I'll report back with a full update on the past 3 days in the morning. |

Day 7 Friday, 16 September 2011
at 10:32 on The Mighty Tuks said After a couple yelling matches the rail station guys tried to split our two teams up and attempted to impound our tuk tuks. Simon ended up paying a "bond" to allow us to leave the station. We added two Japanese girls we met on the train to the two tuk tuks for the day. The more the merrier right? Headed to Varanasi to see the Ganges River. Most disgusting water on earth. A chocolate milk colored mix of excrement, cremated bodies, and trash.... With tons of people bathing in it. Marc from Team Ghandi Warhol put his leg in, we will report back as to how quickly it falls off. Now off to Allahabad to shower and change after wearing these clothes for 2 days. Rumor has it lots of the hotels there have pools... Maybe a few mango lassies poolside? |

at 00:51 on The Mighty Tuks said Miraculously we have gotten the 2 tuk tuks off at the right station, but now the rail authorities will not let us leave. May be because we lost the parcel receipt for the tuk tuks... So, in true tourist fashion, we are blaming them for it. Now they are trying to extort money from us... This should be fun. |

at 07:38 on The Mighty Tuks said 3rd round of negotiations successful. Drove the tuk tuks through the train station, over a pedestrian bridge, and then had them lifted into the freight car. As with everything in India it took about 40 people too many to accomplish. Last minute track change had us pushing the tuk tuks across the tracks. Kristian almost got hit by a train after jumping down onto the tracks to bring us water. Most stressful morning yet and we weren't even driving. Now settling in to our 15 hour train journey to Mughalsarai. Out come the playing cards...@ |

Day 5 Wednesday, 14 September 2011
at 19:55 on The Mighty Tuks said Taxi down from Darjeeling past all of the tea fields, stunningly beautiful. Came back to Siliguri to do the final negotiation for getting our tuk tuk on the train tomorrow... And still no answer. Train leaves to Mughalsarai tomorrow at 11:30am, will know by 9am if we will be allowed to get the tuk tuks on, but chances are looking good as we saw 2 rickshaw run tuk tuks being loaded on a train today. Still traveling with Team Ghandi Warhol. No full update for day 4 (today) or day 5 (tomorrow) as we have no internet, but will be updating via text. Full updates to come Friday.
